After a successful career in the energy business, Byrd and his wife made the decision to pursue his art full time. They implemented a plan to accomplish that goal and since 2012 he has produced a large portfolio of diverse works.
“I have always been drawn to the outdoors and the storylines I find there. Whether it is a wildlife or Western theme, there needs to be a compelling element. A look or movement…a particular situation and, of course, beauty. My main interest lies in subjects accurately acting with purpose,” he says. “Like all art, there are many ways to get there. I prefer to paint in what I call ‘impressionistic realism.’ By that I mean eliminating minute details to achieve a likeness while still embracing the true look and feel of the subject matter.”

Byrd continues, “Collectors need to find paintings that give them joy. A painting should be well done and may come in all sizes and price ranges. Expensive does not necessarily mean good and inexpensive does not necessarily mean inferior. If you like it and it fits your budget and personality, acquire it for your lifelong enjoyment! Original art in your home is a legacy you share with others now and forever.”
Byrd’s work will next be seen at the Best of the West Art Show March 17 to 19 at the Four Season Arena at Montana Expo Park in Great Falls, Montana. —
