Larry Moore offers “intrusions” at Gallery Wild
South Carolina painter Larry Moore recently unveiled exciting new work at Gallery Wild in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Known for his series Intrusion, featuring animals intruding into human spaces, Moore has been exploring a tangent series called Intrusions Contemporary that explore skulls and animals within abstract backgrounds. This work, Outland, is from the series. “In these new Intrusion paintings, abstraction and the animal are the juxtapositions, and they can create a really interesting relationship with each other,” says the artist. Moore’s new show will be on view at Gallery Wild starting May 28 through June 9.

Three paintings in one canvas by Kyril Bruce DeFoor
In a series of new paintings, Montana artist Kyril Bruce DeFoor paints three works of art merging into one diorama of action. In From Whence We Came, which comes from a series of four works, he paints one of William R. Leigh’s cowboy figures getting tossed on a horse. Behind the rider is a Thomas Moran landscape. And behind that is a Raymond Jonson work. DeFoor samples and borrows from other artists, which is his version of Western Pop Art. These works, which are not far off from trompe l’oeil, reveal an artist who is having a great deal of fun matching and even mismatching Western art iconography in his exploration of the genre.

Chance Tedesco brings bright color to his wildlife art
Chance Tedesco is wildlife artist from Pennsylvania. In Copilot, he paints a pair of birds with an elk. “For this painting I choose to tell the story of two closely linked individuals, father and son...The call of the wild can be heard, felt and seen as symbolized by the bugling bull elk in the near background. The movement of the magpie pair seems to affect nature itself as the bull is temporarily distracted from his call,” he says. “My son and daughter are a great inspiring force in my work...There is something great about experiencing nature in solitude, but with those we love, that experience is both shared and compounded. I hope my painting Copilot inspires you into a shared experience in nature’s beauty with those closest to you.”

Lena Noble brings the goats to her newest work
Oregon-based painter Lena Noble should get her hands insured: not only is she a talented painter but she’s also a skilled pianist. The wildlife painter, originally from Crimea, moved to the United States in 1998. She was recently in Great Falls, Montana, where she was presenting her newest paintings, including this piece, White Party, featuring a cluster of white goats. Noble is a self-taught artist and says she is constantly inspired by contemporary painters and Old Masters. She notes that studying music helped create the discipline and practice required to be a fine artist. Other animal subjects she paints include elk, pronghorn, buffalo, wolves, horses, cattle and a wide variety of birds.
