Ahead of the prestigious Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale is another event presented by Coors that patrons will want to mark on their calendars: Young Guns Art Show. This single-day event highlights artists making waves in the Western art world, many of whom you may not have heard of yet, but who are surely on to big things. While some of these artists are young, in truth they span a wide range of ages, reminding us that a successful art career can be cultivated at any stage of life.

“I think what makes Young Guns so exciting is the group of artists that we have,” says Coors art curator Kate Hlavin. This year, 37 artists will be represented during the show—which takes place at the Legacy in Denver, Colorado—including Sarah Bloodwolf, Maia Chavez Larkin, Ken Elliott and Alice Leese, this year’s featured artist.

“I find all the artwork to be refreshing and exciting,” Hlavin continues. “We look for artists who are making interesting work and we feel have momentum with their careers. The artists are from all over the country. We have many new artists in the show this year. Lots of exciting artists. A few that stand out to me are Laura Donavan, Jonathan Noon, Lauren Florence and Daniel Falcón. I can’t wait to see the body of work each of the artists has created for this fantastic show.”
More than 500 guests are expected to attend the evening event, where they can enjoy live music, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails while exploring fresh, contemporary takes on the American West. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet the artists and purchase artwork.

“The price point for the artwork is under $10,000, with an average price of about $2,000. It is a great way for collectors to learn about Western art and start their collections,” says Hlavin. “With an accessible price point, our goal is to have collectors participate at many different levels. Young Guns donates the proceeds from the art sales back to the National Western Scholarship Trust. We give approximately 120 scholarships a year to students in Wyoming and Colorado majoring in rural medicine, veterinary science and agricultural studies. Together with the Coors Show, the art sales have a significant impact on directly helping students in the Rocky Mountain West.”
