Charcoal works by Emily Copeland now up at RJD Gallery
Canadian charcoal artist Emily Copeland has rarely appeared in Western Art Collector but is a regular in our sister publication American Art Collector. This month she has a new solo show at RJD Gallery in Romeo, Michigan, where she will showing several Western-themed works, including drawings featuring an old lantern, a pair of cowboy boots and this piece, Antique Revolver. Her works on paper are meticulously detailed and quite large; this one is 30 by 44 inches. If you’re looking for something outside of the usual Western circles, or outside the West altogether, consider Copeland’s works at RJD Gallery.

See more of Copeland’s works at the gallery website, www.rjdgallery.com.

Coeur d’Alene Galleries shows works by Tobias Sauer

An October group show at Coeur d’Alene Galleries in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, gave collectors a glimpse of new paintings by Tobias Sauer. And the response was huge, according to gallery owner Buddy Le, who noted that collectors were drawn to Sauer’s lively depictions of the Old West. “Tobias’ style harkens back to the early days of the Cowboy Artists of America and their desire to portray the West in its most authentic form,” the gallery notes. The show opened in October, so there may not be many pieces left, but be sure to contact the gallery about new ones that become available. This is an artist you won’t want to miss.

Billy Schenck brings new work to Blue Rain Gallery in Santa Fe

Now available at Blue Rain Gallery in Santa Fe are several new pieces from painter Billy Schenck. One new work is The Wanderers. “Billy Schenck’s The Wanderers captures the bold, nostalgic essence of the American West,” the gallery notes. “The man’s gaze is set on the rugged landscape ahead, evoking a sense of purpose and solitude...Above, dramatic clouds—painted in unblended shades of gray and white against a vibrant blue sky—add depth and atmosphere to the scene. Schenck’s use of bold color blocking and sharp contrasts highlights the rugged beauty of the Western landscape, while the solitary cowboy and his horses evoke themes of freedom and exploration.”
