August 2023 Edition

Artist Focus

Artist Focus: Nealy Riley

Golden Crown, acrylic, gold leaf and resin on panel, 48 x 48”

One rising artist that collectors should keep their eyes on is wildlife painter Nealy Riley, who paints in a loose style with a unique palette.

“Nealy Riley brings a feminine softness to contemporary wildlife painting. Placing her subjects into ethereal, abstracted landscapes, her work seems to transcend the natural world,” Carrie Wild, owner of Gallery Wild says. “Nealy begins each composition with an exposed wood panel and metal leafing. Nealy’s incorporation of natural elements into her mixed media practice mimics uncontrollable aspects of nature, her ultimate source of inspiration. Her carefully expressive, dry-brush paint application leaves space for the gold and silver leafing to shine through and interact with light in the space. Her work is intended to capture the attention of the viewer and be a reminder of the moments they themselves have experienced in the wild. By bringing awareness to experiences in nature, Nealy hopes her work will help guide people to make responsible decisions involving nature and conservation.”
