A Return to Texas

After a long absence due to the pandemic, the Cowboy Artists of America announce a triumphant return.

One of the enduring qualities of the Cowboy Artists of America is its adherence to traditions. Every spring there is a trail ride, and every fall there is an annual show. Like clockwork, these things have happened largely uninterrupted for 55 years. Then the pandemic struck and the CA was forced to cancel the 2020 annual show. Teal Blake, Panhandle Morning, watercolor

Chad Poppleton, The Road to Jericho, oil on panel, 36 x 48”

Mikel Donahue, Burning Daylight, acrylic, 20 x 26½”

But now the group is back: the CA has announced its 55th Annual Exhibition & Sale for November 5 and 6 in Fort Worth, Texas. This year’s event will return to the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, where it was held in 2019. The show will be presented by the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo and it will honor the legacy of Anne W. Marion, a longtime supporter of the CA and its mission of continuing the tradition of Western art. Marion died in February 2020.
