It’s been a chaotic 12 months, but Troy Collins has found peace in his studio, with his family and when he has a canvas on the easel.
“I have been spending a lot of my time recently painting with my daughters in my studio. They are both very talented artists in their own right, and it has been exciting for me to pass on my knowledge and love for what I do to them,” he says from his Montana studio. “It’s been really good for me because, as I have been explaining some foundations of painting to them, I have been reminded of many elements that have become instinctual for me when I paint. It has been refreshing and I feel like that new, invigorating spark is evident in the collection of work I am creating right now.”

Collins is one of the top landscape impressionists in the country, and he’s maintained a legendary work ethic, producing multiple solo shows each year, and 2021 is no exception. “I am currently getting ready for a full plate of summer shows. I am also discovering a new love for painting wildlife and figurative pieces using my own stylistic approach,” he says. “It has been invigorating to branch out and create some really colorful and thickly textured paintings for my collectors.”
