For the past 11 years, InSight Gallery in Fredericksburg, Texas, has paid homage to its state by hosting an exhibition dedicated to Texas artists living and work today. The 12th annual Texas Masters Show will feature more than 40 works, paintings and sculpture, that highlight the individual talents, inspirations and voices of these gallery artists.
Brian Grimm, Life on the Western Prairie, oil, 36 x 36"
Among those participating this year are Nancy Bush, Jill Carver, Cheri Christensen, Douglas Clark, Teresa Elliott, Jim Eppler, Bruce Greene, David Griffin, Francois Koch, Kyle Ma, Kay Northup, Gladys Roldan-de-Moras, Aleksander Titovets, Lyuba Titovets and Ann Kraft Walker, to name a few.
Mary Ross Buchholz, Who Me?, charcoal, 34 x 13"
Tony Pro, Cowpoke, oil, 14 x 11"
San Antonio-based artist Tony Pro, who was born in Northridge, California, paints a number of subjects including people and places that represent the Old West. Among his works is the portrait Cowpoke, which was “inspired the old Texas cowboys, and this particular fellow has a bit of a Gary Cooper look, which I definitely liked.”
Robert Pummill, Only in Texas, oil on canvas, 30 x 40"
Mary Ross Buchholz’s drawing Who Me? was inspired by the foals that were born on her ranch this past spring. “New life always brings me joy and inspiration. I never tire of watching a mare and foal interact. Often the mare is very protective of her foal and doesn’t allow me to get too close. As the foals get a bit older, they become more adventuresome,” says Buccholz. “I couldn’t resist capturing the curiosity and spunkiness of this foal as he stepped closer to me to investigate.”
Mark Haworth, River Road Roses, oil, 12 x 16"
Collectors will also find works such as Brian Grimm’s Life on the Western Prairie, which depicts an animal out in a wide-open pasture and Mark Haworth’s River Road Roses, a painting that shows off the artist’s intricate mark making. Robert Pummill’s Only in Texas is the quintessential Texas scene—a field of bluebonnets.
Texas Masters will take place March 5 through 26.
