Western Horizons hits $1.8 million in sales

During a two-day event in late February, Legacy Gallery presented the annual Western Horizons exhibition to collectors. The show was huge success, with sales topping $1.8 million, a record for the show. Thirty-four artists offered new work, and many were in the room as the artwork was unveiled to visitors. Of the 34 artists, 15 of them sold out during the opening weekend event. One of the highlights of the show was the sale of Tony Abeyta’s large modernist landscape Dancing Grounds, which sold for $75,000. Award winners at Western Horizons included Kyle Polzin, Mark Boedges and Rachel Brownlee.

Leslie Lambert sells a major work in Arizona

On March 28, women artists from around the country converged on the Sigler Western Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona, for Cowgirl Up! Art from the Other Half of the West. One of those artists in attendance was Leslie Lambert, who had an exceptional weekend at the Arizona museum. Not only did she win first place in the two-dimensional art division, Lambert also saw her painting Grace in the Reins enter into the museum’s permanent collection. “To be included in Cowgirl Up! is an honor in itself,” the artist says. “To be recognized among artists whose work I have long admired is deeply meaningful. It affirms both the direction of my work and the stories I am committed to telling through it.” —
