Opening October 11 at the Phippen Museum is Click: Light Up the West, where the public can view fine art photography of the American West by some of Arizona’s most talented photographers. “Each participating artist in this exhibit was offered an exclusive invitation based on their impressive portfolios and asked to submit six pieces for sale,” says Edd Kellerman, museum executive director. “And the result is an exceptionally curated collection of fine art photography featuring a variety of artistic techniques and subject matter.” The exhibition runs through January 11, 2026.

Now on view at the Taos Art Museum at Fechin House is Selections from the Janis and Roy Coffee Collection, which includes selections from a 150-piece donation to the Northern New Mexico museum. “The Coffee collection encompasses works by 87 different artists, representing a remarkable cross-section of Taos art from the early 20th century through today,” says Christy Schoedinger Coleman, museum executive director. “Together, these works provide both breadth and variety, offering fresh insights into the ways artists have interpreted Taos as a place of lasting creativity and cultural exchange.” Included in the collection are major pieces from members of the Taos Society of Artists. The exhibition continues through January 11, 2026.

One of the most famous outlaws of the Old West, Billy the Kid, is the subject of a new exhibition at Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West. The Resurrection of Billy the Kid will feature works by modern-day artists depicting the life and persona of Billy the Kid. Some aim for historical accuracy, while others dip into the imagination. The exhibition will open on October 4 and remains on view through January 2026.

While her career was relatively short—only a few decades—mid 20th-century artist Mac Schweitzer made a name for herself as a talented painter creating abstractions of the people, animals and landscapes of the Southwest. A new exhibition, Mac Schweitzer: A Southwest Maverick Rediscovered, at Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West will shine a light on her career and work. The show features paintings, sketches, prints and archival materials, many which haven’t been available for public viewing for more than 60 years. The exhibition opens October 18 and will hang through September 2026.
