More than 200 juried works will be available to view and purchase on the opening night of the 40th annual Bosque Art Classic, organized by the Bosque Arts Center. For four decades, the Bosque Art Classic has been supporting Western art and artists, showcasing some of the best that the genre has to offer. The show is juried by Cowboy Artists of America member Bruce Greene, who recently won the Express Ranches Great American Cowboy Award at Prix de West.
Among the artwork in the upcoming show and sale is Calvin Carter’s Colors of the Past, a watercolor portrait of an early Blackfoot Headman. “The bright colors are inspired by Indigenous regalia and their scenic homelands. His stoic gaze exemplifies honor and tradition that he carries through time,” Carter explains.

Eileen Nistler will be showing a colored pencil still life titled A Peony For Your Thoughts. “The last two weeks of June, when the peonies bloom, are the heart of my year. I have over 30 bushes in my yard, and they are like old friends that come for a short time bearing gifts,” she says. “Peonies symbolize romance, prosperity and good fortune—red ones, especially, represent passion and love.”
Other artists in the show include Crystal Orlando, Trish Stevenson, Richie Vios, Kathy LeJeune, William Schneider, Bill Farnsworth, Jeff Williams, James Swanson and more.

The opening ceremony is a ticketed event and takes place on Saturday, September 13. The free exhibition will open to the public September 14 to 27. An online sale will run from September 15 to 27. —
