More than 80 works of wildlife art will be featured during the 2025 Southeastern Wildlife Exposition.

With a blend of both animal art and conservation-minded programming, the Southeastern Wildlife Expositionreturns to Charleston, South Carolina, with a curated collection of top contemporary wildlife art. Taking place at destinations across Chucktown, SEWE celebrates the best wildlife painters and sculptors from across the country, including John Banovich, Amy Lay, Mark Kelvin Horton, Paul Rhymer, Lori Dunn, Julie Jeppsen, Walter Matia, Lou Pasqua and many more. Each artist brings something different to the table, with mediums ranging from oil, acrylic and gouache, to bronze and wood sculpture—and even feather art by Chris Maynard.

Kathleen Dunphy, Fields of Gold, oil, 24 x 36 in.

“In many ways I hope visitors can expect the unexpected. The opportunity to witness over 80 complete bodies of work and engage with the artists throughout the weekend is extremely unique,” says SEWE president John Powell. “SEWE will boast the Fine Art Gallery as well as Gallery by SEWE, which is a year-round expression of the weekend. The relationships we build with the artists is truly something the full staff looks forward to, and we cheer as our collectors find new work and new friends each year.”

Artist Larry Moore conducts a demonstration during SEWE in 2024.

The starkly monochromatic charcoals of 2025 featured artist Ray Brown will be placed center stage at this year’s event. Brown’s Veiled, a dark and dramatic portrait of a moose emerging from the shadows, is the featured work and the subject of the official 2025 SEWE poster. “Being named the SEWE2025 featured artist is truly an honor and a validation of the work I’ve done over the years, but more than that, it’s a full-circle moment for me,” says the artist.

Kathleen Dunphy, Grazing, oil on linen, 15 x 30 in.

“SEWE was the first show where I exhibited my work more than 20 years ago. To be chosen as the 2025 featured artist takes me back to that first time I walked into the ballroom, and I feel proud of what I’ve accomplished in my career since then. I’m grateful that SEWE has continued to support me and provide a platform to showcase my work and passion for wildlife.”

Luke Frazier, Prowler, oil, 8 x 18 in.

Visitors can expect a packed schedule of dozens of events throughout the weekend, including the Quick Draw Speed Sculpt and Auction, herding demonstrations, flight demos with birds of prey and much more. For the full list of events, check out www.sewe.com/events.

Cody Oldham, The Hidden Lake, oil on linen, 16 x 20 in.

“Our efforts to promote artists and conservation organizations are similar in that there are no geographic boundaries, and we want to lend support to both the established and the newcomer,” says Powell. “I believe there are few events in the country where you see both active and organic collaboration on such a large scale.”

The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition will be held from February 14 to 16. Also on view at the Gallery by SEWE through the duration of the event is an exclusive art piece by sporting artist Joseph H. Sulkowski in collaboration with sculptor Diana Reuter-Twining titled The Three Graces. —
