Huge turnout and sales for Maxwell Alexander re-opening
After several false starts due to complex construction issues, Maxwell Alexander Gallery re-opened to the public in November 2024 in its new space in Pasadena, California. Gallery owners Beau Alexander and Logan Maxwell Hagege celebrated with a three-day bash that included a sit-down dinner, brunch at a historic home, a private tour of the Norton Simon Museum, a reception, sale and live demonstrations from Thomas Blackshear II, Joshua LaRock and Daniel Bilmes. By the end of the weekend, the gallery had sold 44 works totaling more than $1 million. One of the sold pieces was the Glenn Dean painting that was our January 2024 cover, back when the gallery’s original opening was announced. Congratulations to the gallery, which already has a strong lineup of shows for 2025 in its new California space. Follow along at www.maxwellalexandergallery.com.

Kim Wiggins sells out his latest one-man show at Legacy Gallery
After devoting more than a year to a single body of work, Kim Wiggins was eager to unveil his newest show in November 2024 at Legacy Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona. What happened next was fireworks: Wiggins sold every available work in the course of about 30 minutes, realizing nearly $900,000 in sales. The monumental one-man show proved yet again that contemporary Western art, sometimes called the New West, was here to stay, Wiggins told visitors to the gallery. Wiggins joins Martin Grelle, John Coleman, Mark Maggiori and others who have succesfully undertaken Legacy’s large solo shows that encourage artists to take risks, go big and to create masterworks. The shows take a year or more to put together, but their impact have been unmistakable in the world of Western art.
