Western art crosses the Atlantic Ocean with Jack Browning
Proving that the American West is a lifestyle that can't be contained by a border, Jack Browning is tearing it up in the United Kingdom, both as an aspiring artist and a professional musician. Largely self-taught and working with themes of “folklore, storytelling, history and ethnography,” Browning is in love with the American West and utilizes his unique perspective as an outsider to inform his compositions. His work has already found American collectors, especially after pieces were shown during a summer show at the Taos Art Museum. The artist is presently working on his first body of work for a United States audience. He’s also been mentored by several American artists, including Western painter Joshua LaRock.

Zefren-M collaborates with Ralph Lauren
New York-based fashion house Ralph Lauren is making huge strides to include Native American designers under its label, first with weaver Naiomi Glasses in December 2023, and now with Navajo artist Zefren-M, whose pieces were unveiled in October 2024. The weaver and designer participated in Ralph Lauren’s residency program, which produced an assortment of new pieces that were unveiled as part of the company’s Western-leaning Double RL brand. In addition to the new items, such as shirts and weavings, the collaboration also benefits organizations that support Native American communities.

Doug West has new work at Blue Rain Gallery
Long-standing Blue Rain Gallery artist Doug West has sent new pieces to the gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Now and Forevermore is classic West: bold color, huge scale (40 by 40 inches) and a pleasing composition that accentuates the Southwest’s forms. “The Southwest is my rich pallet for creative inspiration,” West says. “Time spent out on the land is where I feel most grounded. Watching the sky’s changing light, with heroic cloud forms overhead…these feed my artist’s eye.”See more of West's work at www.blueraingallery.com.
