The Bosque Art Classickicks off on September 14 with a sale and awards dinner celebrating the work of 100 Western artists. The juried exhibition features 175 works of representational art, much of which pays homage to the Western way of life through subjects like ranching, landscapes, wildlife and scenes of everyday life.

David Yorke, Rodeo Dreams, oil on linen, 28 x 18 in.
“I don’t see this show as only a celebration of a Texas way of life but as a slice of American life,” says art council president Karen Cornett, adding that entries come from every corner of the country. “Many subjects have been integrated in the artwork that makes up this show giving it universal appeal.”
Cowboy Artists of America member Martin Grelle served as juror for this year’s show, which features the work of talented newcomers David Yorke and Wesley Dallas Merritt, along with last year’s award winners Richie Vios, Kathy LeJeune, David Dorsey, Crystal Orlando, Lee Alban and Matt Atkinson. More than $15,000 will be awarded opening night including the prestigious $5,000 John Steven Jones Purchase Award.
Vios will be showing Cowboy Zen, a watercolor capturing a silhouetted moment of quietude, while Yorke focuses on the determination and potential of youth in his oil Rodeo Dreams.
