Returning for the 43rd year of celebrating Western culture in all its unique forms—and inspired by the event’s location in Cody, Wyoming—is the esteemed Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale.Featuring more than 100 contemporary Western artists, showcasing impressive Western scenes in oil, watercolor, pastel and bronze, the 2024 edition is one collectors won’t want to miss.
Mark McKenna, Trout Peak Traverse, oil, 24 x 30 in.“The artwork showcased in the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale represents the West in unique and incredible ways,” explains Katelyn Parker, show director. “Our artists represent the West, both old and new, and produce pieces that honor our landscape, historical figures, cultures and wildlife. It is remarkable to see the West through their unique viewpoints.”
Parker also notes that the five-week event is organized by the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce, and strives to support established and emerging Western artists, engage patrons of the arts, and enliven the Cody community with events that provide education and entertainment—all of which benefit the prestigious Buffalo Bill Center of the West, Cody Country Chamber of Commerce and local art organizations.
The 2024 event also unveils five new artists, including Tony Pro, Kimball Geisler and Jeff Legg “who are all accomplished oil painters with their own distinctive styles,” says Parker. “[Also] find Stefan Savides, an avian sculptor from Oregon, and Angela Babby, who works with enameled stained glass.”

Artist Andrew Bolam paints at the 2023 Quick Draw event.
Returning artist Michele Usibelli, who will be showcasing a peaceful and elegant landscape painting titled Golden Reflections, shares that she always looks forward to the diversity of works that are showcased at the show. “The curators put together a comprehensive exhibition with works representing multiple genres and many different styles,” she says. “This creates an exhibition with energy and beauty…”

For Golden Reflections, she says that inspiration came from a fall hike with her family. “I was immediately drawn to the play of warm and cool temperature shifts, the glorious play of light on the fall leaves contrasted with the blue of the sky and the distant mountains. With this work, I continue my goal to ‘say more with less detail’—always aware of simplifying a scene to allow the viewer to complete the story for themselves.”
The event kicks off with the Buy-it-Now Sale opening July 1 online, showcasing 60 additional small works that will also accompany the in-person live auction exhibition opening August 16 at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. The main event, the live auction, will occur on September 20, which also includes dinner and an open bar. The following day is the quickdraw and sale, where artists complete entirely new works in only 90 minutes. These pieces are immediately offered in a live auction while patrons enjoy a catered brunch.

Additional programming is offered on Monday, September 16, with artist Charlie Hunter teaching a three-day painting workshop, followed by a half day sculptural workshop called “Play in the Clay” on September 20, held by artist LaQuincey Reed. September 19 will be the show’s Lunch & Lecture series that starts with a catered lunch, followed by a lecture on the “Art Pioneers of Park County” provided by archivist Brian Beauvais.
