Artist Focus

Artist Focus: Ray Tigerman

Ray Tigerman is a multidisciplinary artist who creates at the intersection of figurative, abstraction and storytelling. His work is easily recognizable, with iconic subjects and layers of bold, vibrant colors, all of which are applied with a palette knife. “I attempt to capture my subjects at their apex. I want them to vibrate off the canvas. I want them to radiate a positivity and energy that the collector feels each time they engage the work,” the artist says.

Wasake, acrylic, 36 x 36 in.

Wolf Spirit, acrylic, 60 x 48 in.

Tigerman was raised in the vast openness of Nevada and is irresistibly drawn to the Southwest with its understated beauty, a kaleidoscope of colors and Indigenous people. “I was blessed to have grown up in the shadows of the High Sierra Mountains and just across the road from the Washoe Tribe Reservation,” he says. “This fusion of culture and rugged landscape has laid the groundwork for the man and artist I am today.”

Warrior, acrylic, 72 x 60 in.

Collectors can find his work at fine art galleries in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Park City, Utah; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Sedona, Scottsdale and Tucson in Arizona. Visit the artist’s website for a detailed and complete list of upcoming events. —
