This July, Broadmoor Galleries will be hosting its annual Broadmoor Art Experience.Every Saturday and Sunday, beginning July 6, nearly two dozen artists working will descend upon the Broadmoor Properties in Colorado Springs to create artwork on site. Visitors will be able to experience the wonder of witnessing talented artists from across the country—Michelle Kondos, Dustin Van Wechel, Brandon Bailey, Thomas Blackshear II, Linda Glover Gooch, Sandy Scott, Gerald Balciar and Leon Loughridge—create new artwork right before their eyes. It’s a chance for artists and collectors to chat face to face and directly connect with one another.

“I love having the opportunity to discuss my paintings with people as they wander by, and I especially enjoy engaging children in my creative process,” says participating artist Krystii Melaine. “But most important of all, it’s a genuine human experience where we all get to meet, talk and laugh together while enjoying our shared creativity.”

The artist works in Western and wildlife subject matter, as well as florals and abstraction. “It’s a rare opportunity for people who may never go into an art gallery to meet lots of artists and watch them work out in the summer air in a totally casual and friendly atmosphere,” she adds. “Last time I got very little painting done as I spent the whole weekend happily talking with people.”
A superb wildlife realist, Van Wechel has been a part of the Broadmoor Art Experiencefor several years now. “It’s always wonderful to get out of the studio and interact with the public, catch up with artist friends and collectors,” he says, “all the while creating a painting while out enjoying the beautiful Colorado summer weather.”

For Gooch, who creates sprawling atmospheric landscapes, this is her first time attending the Colorado Springs event. “I love Colorado and I’m looking forward to getting out of the desert heat and painting there onsite for the Art Experience,” she says. “Seeing all my artist friends and getting to talk to collectors and the public is the best part.”

The Broadmoor Art Experience is held at Broadmoor Galleries on July 6 to 7, July 13 to 14, July 20 to 21 and July 27 to 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Visit the gallery’s website at www.broadmoorgalleries.com for updates on artists as they are added to the roster. —
