Chris Segre-Lewis heads to Meyer Gallery
Santa Fe-based Meyer Gallery has announced that Chris Segre-Lewis is now being represented by the gallery. Born in Jamaica, Segre-Lewis immigrated to Florida and then studied art in Kentucky. He’s been a teacher for more than 20 years. “His unique semi-abstract landscapes capture the complex relationship between nature and human spirituality, inviting viewers into a deep, reflective experience,” the gallery notes. “Chris brings to his art a rich background that includes music, education and visual arts. His art is not just to be seen but to be experienced, encouraging viewers to explore their connection to the environment and their inner worlds.”

Modern cowboy painter Duke Beardsley has a new home in Texas
Denver-based painter Duke Beardsley has been picked up by InSight Gallery in Fredericksburg, Texas. Beardsley’s paintings of repeating cowboys in intoxicating colors have been celebrated inside and outside of the West. The Texas Hill Country gallery already has a number of new pieces, including a massive 10-foot-tall mixed media piece, as well as new diptychs and triptychs that can be purchased separately or together as a set.

Manitou offers work by contemporary painter Taylor Crisp
Taylor Crisp, an artist who was featured in one of our first Fresh Paint sections, is now being represented by Manitou Galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico. “The pivotal moment in Taylor’s artistic path emerged in an encounter with contemporary Western artistry, notably the groundbreaking work of Ed Mell,” the gallery says. “The bold distillation of form, combined with an arresting palette, acted as a siren call, compelling Taylor to explore this transformative aspect of Western landscape art. Further delving into the genre introduced her to Maynard Dixon, whose evocative depictions of the Southwest profoundly influenced her own artistic ethos.”

The pieces include some of the artist’s most iconic subjects: cowboys in cattle pens, top-down rodeo scenes, landscapes with vivid color and images that focus on horses. This piece, titled Canyon Lands, measures 30 inches wide and includes gorgeous purple-shadowed mountains.
