Blue Rain Gallery shows new Deladier Almeida landscapes
Cool Snap, a new work by landscape painter Deladier Almeida, is now being offered at Blue Rain Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The 12-inch-square work shows patches of snow covering the desert as rock formations fill part of the background. Almeida’s work often focuses on improvised brushwork. “The way my painting comes out is a function of the way I attack it,” he says. “I have to work on the edge of my rational mind.”

Harley Brown sends new portrait to Settlers West
Few people live and breathe art quite like Harley Brown, the famous painter, art teacher and author. The artist has submitted a new work to Settlers West’s Summer Show opening May 4 in Tucson, Arizona. The work, Kateri, a 12-by-10-inch pastel piece, shows a young Native American girl beaming out amid her colorful outfit made of beads, quills and feathers. Brown portraits are rare and highly desirable by collectors. As well as being an artist, Brown also instructs readers in our sister publication, International Artist, and is also an emeritus member of the Cowboy Artists of America.

Brunk Auctions offers 19th-century Yosemite painting
It’s certainly not a new piece, but it is fresh to the market: Enoch Wood Perry’s 1865 painting On Horseback, Cathedral Rocks, Yosemite. The 29-inch-tall oil has gorgeous light and color, not to mention the towering rock face that creates the immense scale of the work, which is estimated at $40,000 to $60,000. Perry was from Boston but traveled West to California in the early 1860s, when he painted with Albert Bierstadt in Yosemite Valley. The Perry piece will be offered at Brunk Auctions’ upcoming sale, An American Panorama: North, South, East and West on May 9 in Asheville, North Caroline. The sale will also be held online.

Parsons offers new work from Richard Alan Nichols
Parsons Gallery of the West in Taos, New Mexico, is hosting a group show, Historic Taos Storytellers, starting May 17. One of the artists showing new paintings is Richard Alan Nichols. The artist, who has trained all around the country, will be showing Spirits of One’s Past, a large 43-inch-square work showing eagle dancers in a bright field. His loose brushstrokes and thick painting quality should delight new collectors. “Art is the representation of that which the mind can imagine, but only the heart knows to be true,” the artist notes on his website.
