After 16 years as a full-time singer-songwriter, Wayne Kerr has returned to what stirred his creative heart as a child—his art. During the past seven years, this artistic journey has led Kerr back into all things “West.” This road has garnered him recognition at events across the country including The Russell and the Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale, among others.

Kerr’s roots grow deep in the West. His great grandfather was Cherokee, and served as a Texas Ranger in the early 1900s. “Upon his passing at the age of 94, he still had two bullets in him that doctors deemed ‘too much trouble to remove’ 60 years previously,” the artist says, adding that history and tradition help him paint images of the West.

The paintings pictured here will both be featured at the Out West Art Show & Sale in Great Falls, Montana, from March 14 to 16. He will also have a third work at The Russell, which is also being held March 14 to 16 in Great Falls.
