Don Oelze earns sell-out show at Legacy Gallery in Arizona
Montana painter Don Oelze brought more than a dozen works to Legacy Gallery for a January show in Scottsdale, Arizona. The opening night, and then a follow-up Saturday auction, saw a large turnout and an even larger interest from collectors. When the dust cleared, Oelze was left holding zero paintings—a complete sell-out show. Highlights from the live auction included Homeward Bound (seen here), which closed at $65,000. Bidding was also strong on four other works as well.

William Haskell has strong showing in Tucson
Another Arizona show in January that saw considerable attention from collectors was William Haskell’s hit solo show at Medicine Man Gallery in Tucson, Arizona. A reception marked the show’s opening, with many of the paintings selling on the opening night. The remaining few images sold later, proving that the window to acquire great works of art can be very small, especially for popular artists. Haskell will next show his work at Night of Artists at the Briscoe Western Art Museum. That show opens March 22 in San Antonio, Texas. Read this issue for our full coverage. —
