Artist Focus: Lisa Butters

Lisa Butters’ paintings are inspired by a life lived and loved in the American West. Inspirations for her work are drawn from iconic Western themes of courage, strength and resilience, as well as the sweeping Western landscapes and quiet spaces she has called home. A direct descendent of the legendary American frontiersman, Daniel Boone, Butters’ sense of wonder, her appetite for adventure, and her love for family are deeply rooted in a history that is as colorful and complicated as it is long. From within this narrative, she focuses on moments of personal connection, creating work that invites the viewer to experience the world as she sees it—one full of hope, optimism and simple pleasures, where a well-worn saddle is the mark of a life well lived and a sunlit pair of elk sheds brings moments of quiet reflection.

“When collecting art, it’s important to consider a balanced portfolio: traditional with contemporary, old with new, established with emerging,” she says. “And not just for investment purposes, but for the joy and personal satisfaction that comes with living amongst a curated collection where diverse ideas and perspectives come together to form a narrative that’s uniquely your own.”
