March is a busy month in the art world, and it’s also a busy time for painter Kim Randleas, who will be showing her work at two major March shows: The Russell and the Out West Art Show, both in Great Falls, Montana.

For The Russell, Randleas will be presenting two works that form a pair subtitled Communication. The works, Koiye Goo Bah Daw (We are Kiowa. You smile.) and Teach Me Your Language and I Will Teach You Mine, tell a story about the barriers of understanding between cultures. The pieces will be sold together in one lot during The Russell’s main auction on March 16 at the Heritage Inn in Great Falls.
The Out Westshow will also take place at the Heritage Inn, from March 14 to 16.

“I am a true lover of peace. Like most people, I desire peace and love above all things. There is a divide between people, yet they genuinely want the same things: to love and be loved, to understand and be understood, to bring joy and experience joy,” Randleas says. “To me, painting is about creating connections between people, bridging beyond daily life struggles. Helping others see the triumphs and struggles of another person, to walk a mile in their shoes, so to speak. Crafting art that captures someone’s emotions from a fleeting moment not only aids me but also the viewer and the subject, bypassing the human experience and touching directly upon the heart. Creating art is not work; for me, it’s a lifetime desire to make these connections.”—
