Manitou offers two new James Randle paintings
Now on view at Manitou Galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico, are a pair of sign images by painter James Randle, who frequently turns his attention to roadside attractions and other unique places around the West. The paintings are Why Pay More, showing the Palomino Hotel, and High Plains Hospitality, showing the Pony Soldier Motel, both in Tucumcari, New Mexico. “Why Pay More is heavily influenced by my travels through the Southwest. The skies and the light of the high desert have informed my work for many years and in this piece it feels as if an afternoon monsoon is about to break, bringing much-needed water and life to the parched earth,” Randle says. “In High Plains Hospitality, the sky, light, clouds and remnants of the past play together to create a uniquely Southwestern narrative. The story I am continually drawn to is how the skies open up to refresh the landscape while the man-made elements decay or even completely disappear.” For more information, visit www.manitougalleries.com.
