On November 3 and 4, the Cowboy Artists of America members will unite in Fort Worth, Texas, to present its annual exhibition and sale, a tradition that has been going strong since the group’s founding in 1965. In addition to the CA’s full members, and several emeritus members, this year’s show will also feature two special guest artists: Howard Post and William Matthews.

The inclusion of guest artists, unprecedented in the CA’s long history, should bring an added level of excitement to the show and open up interesting possibilities for future shows.
“Adding the artwork of Post and Matthews is a unique opportunity for our event to expand in terms of drawing in additional collectors and admirers, and will present CAA members’ work to a broader audience,” says Teal Blake, a member of the CA and the president of the Joe Beeler Foundation, which organizes the annual show. “This is the first time the CAA has opened the event to non-members and the potential for added exposure and growth is exciting. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for potential buyers, as the CAA strives to be at the forefront of the Western art world.”

Post, who lives in Tucson, Arizona, is known for his contemporary images of the American West, particularly images of ranches, cowboys and rodeos. A former rodeo rider himself, Post grew up around horses and is continuously inspired by deserts of the Southwest. Matthews is based in Denver and he’s known for his delicate watercolor images of the West, particularly his portrait-like paintings of cowboys. Both artists are highly respected among collectors and in major collections all around the country.
The November CA show is presented with the support of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo and the Joe Beeler Foundation. It will take place at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth. For more information, including tickets and event details, visit cowboyartistsofamerica.com. —
