While the 40th annual Roundup Exhibition and Salewill be on view through October 28, the real action takes place during opening weekend on September 8 and 9, when attendees have the opportunity to support the Museum of Western Art, experience the changes and additions to the event, and purchase original Western paintings and sculpture by top artists working in the genre today.

Among them are well-known names like Todd Connor, Jason Scull, Linda Glover Gooch, Eric Slocombe, Brandon Bailey and Jennifer Johnson and many more.

“This year promises to be one of the most important art sales this museum has ever done,” say executive director Darrell Beauchamp. “This juried show is receiving national interest since many of the most respected Western artists in the industry will be participating. For anyone just beginning an interest in Western art, this is the show to attend because it brings a wide range of experience and price points. We’ll have established well-known artists as well as relative new comers to the field. And, the prices will be varied enough that new collectors will find a work to fit both their budget and tastes in art.”

The opening night banquet will take place on Friday in the museum’s outdoor pavilion overlooking Kerrville, and will begin with a cocktail reception and art preview in the main galleries, followed by a steak dinner, and artist awards and recognitions. The grounds and museum will open to the public on Saturday with ongoing activities including Western-themed demonstrations by trick ropers, plein air artists, storytellers and more. Those interested in purchasing art can do so by a fixed-draw sale or by proxy online through the museum’s website. “Everything we are doing is geared toward honor the art and the artist who have helped us thrive during these 40 years,” says Beauchamp. “The Roundup has always tried to feature great art and artists but in the last few years we have worked hard to find those emerging artists and established artists, with a limited following in this region of the country.” —
