Barbara Mauldin sells painting from the pages of the magazine
Texas painter Barbara Mauldin advertised her painting Flower Power in the April issue of Western Art Collector. Once one of our readers received their copy of the issue, they were instantly captivated by the work and reached out to the artist. “The collector contacted me through my website the day he received the magazine!” Mauldin says. Congratulations to the new owner of this stunning painting.

Fritz Scholder artwork performs exceptionally well at Hindman
There are few sure things in the art world, but if there ever was one it would be a painting by Fritz Scholder. The famous Luiseño painter, who leaned hard into modern depictions of the West and its residents, recently had a work sell at Hindman’s May 4 Western & Contemporary Native American Art Sale. The piece, Indian at the Bar from 1969, was estimated at $50,000 to $70,000. It sold for $239,400. The sale continues a very hot streak for Scholder’s work, a streak that has been going strong for several years with no immediate signs of slowing. Other artists that did well at the May 4 sale included Albert Bierstadt, Ed Mell and John Nieto.
