In mid-May, 49 artists from across the country traveled to Tehachapi, California, for four days to capture the small mountain town’s scenic countryside. After a visit with the Tehachapi Wild Horses and a day at a working cattle ranch, artists then took their plein air sketches back home to finish their paintings in the studio.

“Tehachapi and the surrounding areas are full of beautiful surprises to paint. Colorful wildflowers, gorgeous vistas, dramatic mountains, charming ranches and a town with great character. The possibilities are endless and hard to choose from!” says artist Linda Brown, who is taking part in the 2023 event. “But more than anything else, I am looking forward to joining many exceptional artists that I truly admire and working with the great team and volunteers that put it all together. They sincerely want the artists to succeed, and make sure we have a great time in the process. Cap that all off with a classy opening night gala, and it makes for one very memorable event.”

This is the third year that impressionist oil painter Chuck Kovacic will be participating in the event. “The overall quality of the art generated continues to surpass the previous year, and I am looking forward to bringing a selection of new works to the proceedings. The attention that the artists are focusing upon this area is well deserved,” says Kovacic. “I’m excited to share my talents and to reconnect with old friends.”
