Known for its eclectic roster of contemporary, Western and Native American artists who create work across a wide variety of mediums, Blue Rain Gallery has long had a strong footprint in Santa Fe, New Mexico. And now the gallery’s presence will grow with a new location in Durango, Colorado.

The opening of a Colorado gallery has its origins in the pandemic, when many galleries in Santa Fe were closed down entirely and tourist traffic fell to zero during Covid’s peak.
“Durango has long been in the sights of gallery owner and entrepreneur, Leroy Garcia. Garcia recalls taking family trips as a child from Taos, New Mexico, to Salt Lake City, Utah, driving through Durango and always being intrigued by the inherent charm of this Western town that sits nestled along the Animas River,” the gallery notes. “Over the years he has watched the growth and changes settle in, admiring the lively character and business-friendly nature of Durango’s downtown.”

The new Blue Rain Gallery location.The gallery will rotate artwork from its artists through the new Durango location as well as curate offerings of work created specifically for the new gallery.
