Shannon Leigh brings strong show to Scottsdale, Arizona
When the Celebration of Fine Art opened in Scottsdale, Arizona, one of the standout presentations was from Shannon Leigh, whose colorful Western scenes were impressing visitors to the three-month-long art show. Her work—contemporary in design and retro in subject matter—calls out to Western fashion, design, architecture and even automobiles. “I consider myself a hybrid painter. My work reflects the multifaceted Americana landscape through the intersection of culture and history,” she says. “I stylistically paint in smooth, even textures, taking a linear and figurative approach to perspective. Inspired by the beauty and symbolic thread of connection within the shards of classical stained-glass renderings, I mend stories at the seams in bold lines that unite fragments of an imaginary narrative. Often, I choose to paint bodies faceless; questioning and opening up the possibilities of identity. Architecturally, passages are binary, purposefully leaving the viewer to question. Finding elements in the many places I have lived in the Northwest, Southwest and South, I identify and find harmony in my experiences as I explore human connections in an ever-changing landscape of a modern timeline.” See more work at www.redcircle.gallery

Matthew Sievers brings big new works to Blue Rain Gallery
Glacier Shadows is a massive new 60-inch-wide oil painting from landscape artist Matthew Sievers. This piece comes from Blue Rain Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. “Matthew Sievers steps up to his easel with passion and energy, qualities that stream from his palette knife and brush in great sweeps of vibrant color and emotion,” the gallery notes about his work. His paintings are known for their vibrant color and, in many cases, how he paints sunlight filtering through trees and their autumn leaves. In addition to images of snow-capped peaks and glacier valleys, Sievers paints forests, aspens, rivers, barns and also figurative works. See more of his work at www.blueraingallery.com. —
