Western Art Week brings artists and collectors together in Great Falls, Montana.

March in Great Falls, Montana, has a huge variety of Western shows available to collectors. They are taking place all around town and feature a variety of artwork, not to mention hundreds of artists and dealers. Here is a roundup of Great Falls events. Enjoy!

Arvon Art Show & Sale

www.hotelarvon.com/western-art-week Artwork on display at the Historic Hotel Arvon for the Arvon Art Show & Sale.Taking place in the 33-room Historic Hotel Arvon, the Arvon Art Show & Sale will feature works from more than 20 artists, both historic and contemporary. Artists with work in the show include Gary Byrd, Mimi Grant, Joe Netherwood, Echo Ukrainetz, Ron Ukrainetz, Brenda Wolf and many others. The hotel is connected to the Celtic Cowboy Irish Pub, which will create a festive atmosphere with music, food and drinks.

Footprints on the Trail Art Show & Sale

More than two dozen Western artists will gather for Footprints on the Trail Art Show & Sale at the Holiday Inn Convention Center. The artists are described as “professional artists who share a genuine Western heritage; their ancestors helped settle the West,” organizers say. “They are the sons and daughters of homesteaders, cattlemen, sheepmen, pioneers and Native American Indians. They are proud of their past, assured of the present, and optimistic of the future.”

Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art

During Western Art Week, the Square will feature two exhibits: Object#, an exhibition stemming from the perspective of museology, which is the study of museums and the history of their establishment and development, and Under the Red Roof, featuring works with adults with disabilities. Other works on display include pieces by John Buck, Theodore Waddell, Jaune Quick-to-See-Smith, Michael Sechena, Betsey Hurd, Christina Rothe, Peter Voulkos, Phoebe Noland, Stephen Glueckert and many more.

Montana ExpoPark

Montana ExpoPark and the Four Seasons will be the site of four major art shows during Western Art Week: the Great Western Living & Design Show, Legends West Art Show, The Best of the West Art Show and the Celebration of Native Plains Artists. Whether it’s traditional fine art in paintings or bronze, furnishings and other lifestyle items, or Native American artwork, the Montana ExpoPark will have something for everyone.

10th Annual Missouri Falls Fine Arts Show & Sale
March 16-18

This art show features the Val Knight scholarship winners. This award is given to three senior high school art students from Great Falls and C.M. Russell high schools, and Paris Gibson Education Center. The award ceremony will be held during the opening reception on March 16. The winners’ artwork will be displayed during the show. Val Knight was a longtime local artist whose passion was encouraging young people to be artists.

Wild Bunch Art Show

Artwork in oil, acrylic, watercolor, bronze, wood and more will be presented at the Wild Bunch Art Show. They also have bronze sculptures and wood carvings. In addition, there will be potters and metalworkers, all creating hand-made and unique pieces.

His work will be on view at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park Annual Art Show & Reception.This annual show features original artwork by the Kuka Family, Tanya Werner and Ira Henderson. Kingsley “King” Kuka was a local Blackfeet artist and poet, known for his paintings and lithographs which he called “Kuka-graphs.” He inspired an entire generation of American Indian Artists, and his work is recognized around the world. King Kuka died in December 2003, but his legacy lives on through the creative spirit of his family, including his wife Marietta and five children: Kqyn, Kodi, Kokko, Khi and Khol. —
