Canadian painter Lynden Cowan has new work available
Secluded Pond is a 24-by-36-inch oil on canvas showing a dense forest as it overlaps onto a mossy pond inhabited, at the moment, by two ducks that paddle through the scene. The work is by Lynden Cowan, an Ontario-based painter who paints all kinds of subjects from her studio, and it is available now on her website, www.lyndencowan.com. Her work can also be seen on Instagram (@lyndencowan).

Don Woodard carves the Black Canyon
A new work titled Black Canyon Overlook just came out of the Don Woodard studio. Woodard calls his work “fine art in wood,” and it features bas relief wood carvings painted and framed like a traditional painting. “This artwork was inspired from a trip my wife and I took the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park,” the artist says. “The Gunnison River drops an average of 43 feet per mile through the canyon, six times more than the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Standing 2,250 feet tall from river to rim, Black Canyon’s Painted Wall is the tallest cliff in Colorado and the third tallest in the lower 48 states. Some areas of the Black Canyon only receive 33 minutes of sunlight per day. The rocks exposed at the bottom of the canyon are nearly 2 billion years old, dating from the Precambrian era.” See more of his work at www.donwoodard.com.

Amanda Markel shines as a bronze artist to watch
Montana-based sculptor Amanda Markel’s newest works explore the balance that exists between wildlife and nature. Her bronze pieces show forests merging with foxes, birds flying out of wolf figures and horses interacting with abstracted forms. Much of her work is an interplay of positive and negative space. “The experiences of beauty and hardship are inseparably woven together,” she says. “Yet, they create a dynamic interplay of friction and growth, darkness and light, chaos and order. My sculptures are made to reflect the stories of our lives and stand as a tangible reminder that despite the pain we experience, beauty will always grow.” Presently her work is being shown at Gallery Wild in Jackson, Wyoming, and Santa Fe, New Mexico; FoR Fine Art in Bigfork and Whitefish, Montana, and Tucson, Arizona. To see more of her work visit www.agmarkel.com.
