Western Trading Post, Chinle Trading, ca. 1960s, oil, 22 x 30”, by Ross Stefan (1934-1999).

Western Trading Post, Bluebonnets, ca. 1937, oil, 25 x 30”, by Robert Wood (1889-1979).

Western Trading Post started as a branch of the Foutz Trading Post, which opened in Northern Arizona in 1877 in what was then the Arizona Territory. Around 1903, the family relocated to Kirkland, New Mexico, where they continued to expand. Throughout the 1900s, they operated many trading posts throughout Native country, many of which continue to this day. Several years ago, a branch of the family opened a Trading Post in historic downtown Casa Grande, Arizona. It was then purchased in 2010 by Jim and Bobbi Olson and Betty Whiteley. The Olson family changed the name to Western Trading Post and continue to operate as a family business. Buyers and sellers from around the world have many options as they buy, sell, trade and auction Western Americana and collectibles at the Western Trading Post. The business is made up of both a gallery side and an auction side. Western Trading Post even set an auction world record in January 2022 for selling the most expensive squash blossom necklace ever sold at a live auction ($112,000 final price). The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 24/7 online. —Western Trading Post, Shires and Clydesdales - 6C Ranches, ca. 2000, oil, 56 x 74”, by Lane Timothy.
