Udy Edet was born in Nigeria and came to the United States while in elementary school. She grew up in Washington, D.C., but now resides in Tucson, Arizona, where the Southwest has influenced her aesthetic and medium. Edet is a self-taught artist who works in oil, watercolor and alcohol pigments. She has studied with masters in the United States and taken workshops at the Art Students League in New York City. Her work utilizes the broad canvas of nature, drawing inspiration from the Tucson landscapes that’s known for its deep rich skies and quiet beauty.

Her work has, for a long time, drawn inspiration from the female form. Her work evokes feelings of fantasy and celebrates the beauty of nature and of the natural. She creates are of affirmation and harmony. The canvases evoke the mystery of an ephemeral moment. Edet’s love of art has been inspired by past masters including Alphonse Mucha and Gustav Klimt who celebrated beauty and gifted us a respite at each glance.

Her work is available online and at select art fairs in Arizona, California and occasionally other sites in the western United States. Her work has been displayed in galleries in the Midwest and the east and her art hangs in homes across the United States and in Europe.
Edet’s work will be seen at the Tucson International Airport through December 31, 2022. —
