“My paintings focus on the narrative found in the wild in the eyes of living creatures, the silent stories exchanged in nature we often don’t see,” says Paige Weber. “It might be that moment of recognition between a bear and bird before the latter takes flight. It could be the sound of horses’ tails swishing away flies as they traverse a pasture. I strive to engage the viewer’s senses in a single moment.”

Weber adds that travel has amplified her exposure to exotic birds, wild landscapes and unique wildlife opportunities. She digitally composes initial compositions and then translates them to canvas. Oil paint enables her to explore subtle shifts in color and light, creating realistic animal paintings.

“Today, I am actively seeking ways to use my work to bring attention to wildlife education and conservation,” she says. “Bringing the menagerie into focus allows me to examine our role in protecting the delicate balance of our natural world.”
Her next show will be at Jensen Ringmakers Gallery, June 9 to July 1, 2023, in Twin Falls, Idaho. —
