InSight Gallery will kick off the autumn season with its annual Fall Group Show, featuring new works from all 60 of the gallery’s artists, as well as a special highlight on figurative artist Hsin-Yao Tseng. The show, which runs September 1 to 20, gives collectors a wide range of styles, subjects and mediums from which to choose out of a massive pool of nearly 100 works of art. In addition, this year InSight Gallery will also showcase works from guest artists Julee Hutchison and Robert Rodriguez.

One of artist John Fawcett’s pieces, Full Tilt, captures the energy of a horse in motion as its hooves kick up clouds of dirt. “With this watercolor I wanted the viewer to be a part of the scene, experiencing the dust and the thunder of the horse’s hooves while this cowboy is ready to rope in the branding pens. The glistening sweat of the mount’s coat and the anticipation of what happens next lends itself to the fluidity of the medium.”

Jill Carver’s oil Upstream is an autumnal scene of a Colorado landscape rendered in the artist’s impressionistic style. “These intimate scenes, so typical of beautiful Colorado, provide meaningful opportunity for reflection on the interdependency of life,” says Carver. “Ultimately, I wanted to recreate a feeling of peacefulness.” Another brand new piece in the show by Carver is Valley Floor Sunrise. “So many aspects of this scene provide a fascinating interaction of elements: the receding cast-shadow shape as the sun rises above the mountains behind me, lighting up the golden aspen; the contrast between the still, rich reflections of the beaver pond versus the blue violet of the running stream; and the delicate balance of light and shadow within the valley floor which, while still in shadow, is somehow luminous despite that.” Carver’s home and studio are actually tucked into the trees beyond the distant riverbank depicted in the painting.
