The challenge of capturing subjects in exquisite light excites Teresa Lynn Johnson and stirs her imagination. “The subjects I enjoy portraying the most, in my work, are nature and animals,” she says.

“I love the outdoors and my favorite subject…well, is any subject that has a beautiful play of light and fulfills me with the wonder of the natural world. I feel nature, if closely observed, can teach us about joy, heartbreak, beauty, struggle, inner peace and design.”
Johnson continues: “I am constantly inspired to create my interpretations of nature and animal life on canvas. I use my artistic skills, knowledge and the stirring of my heart to develop my work. Living in the Four Corners region of the western United States provides me with endless inspiration to interpret on canvas. I love many forms of art, but my medium of choice is oil. I enjoy the richness of color and the textures one can create with oil paint.”

Johnson began her professional art journey as one of 12 artists chosen for a yearlong mentorship under the guidance of well-known artist Kevin Macpherson. She also studied in art schools with many wonderful artists, and in workshops and mentorships throughout her art journey. She works both in nature and in the studio. She has been invited to show in numerous exhibitions and juried shows throughout New Mexico, Colorado, Texas and California.
“My true desire is to be an instrument, sharing my knowledge, skills and gifts to help enrich the lives of others,” Johnson adds. —
