Museum of Western Art opens the 39th annual Roundup Exhibition & Sale in Kerrville, Texas.

More than 40 exceptional Western artists will have work on view beginning September 23 during the 39th Annual Roundup Exhibition & Sale at the Museum of Western Art in Kerrville, Texas. “The caliber of art is exceptional this year,” says Darrell Beauchamp, the museum’s executive director. “Whether people are long-time Western art collectors or just starting out, they’ll want to attend this show. Each artist has pulled out all the stops to give us an exhibition of over 100 pieces of high-quality Western art. William Kalwick, New Home, oil, 20 x 16"Artists in this year’s show include Herman Walker, Linda Glover Gooch, William Kalwick, Carol Arnold and many others representing many categories within Western art. 

Events for 39th Annual Roundup Exhibition & Sale include a VIP reception and cocktail party, the museum’s popular Education Day with programming for guests of all ages, hands-on roping demonstrations, a chuckwagon and the finale, the ticketed sale, where the artwork will be available for purchase for collectors of all stripes. Carol Arnold, Message from Above, pastel on archival paper, 24 x 18"

Artwork at this year’s show includes Walker’s Long Trot up to Escondido, which shows a line of horses and riders as they traverse magnificent scenery; Gooch’s Texas landscapes with billowing clouds and hints of Texas bluebonnets in the grass; Kalwick’s pioneer scene, New Home, with a girl in a yellow dress; and Arnold’s loosely painted cloudscape painting Message from AboveMuseum of Western Art in Kerrville, Texas.

The museum is a favorite among Western collectors, particularly Texans, due to its location in Texas Hill Country, known for its iconic scenery and as the subject of many thousands of paintings from some of the biggest names in Western art, including G. Harvey, Bruce Greene and Martin Grelle. The museum sits on a 17-acre complex high a bluff with panoramic views of Kerrville. —
