Luck of the Draw

The 15th annual Miniatures by the Lake show opens on September 5

Every year, Coeur d’Alene Galleries hosts the popular show of miniature, Western-themed paintings measuring approximately 14 inches or less. The 15th annual Miniatures by the Lake show opens on September 5 but the main event is the reception and sale on Saturday, September 24, from 6 to 8 p.m.Colt Idol, Echoing Out, oil, 11 x 14”

Shawn Cameron, Summer Canopy, 9 x 12”

The gallery expects to have between 100 and 120 works from 80 artists in the show, all of which will be sold by fixed-price draw, meaning the cost is set and the buyer will be randomly selected from all interested parties. Miniatures by the Lake will feature wildlife art, sporting art, landscapes, cowboy and Native American motifs and other iconic subject matter associated with the West. Because of their small scale, the pieces are often more affordable than their large-format counterparts. It’s a great opportunity for Western art lovers who are just building their collection and those who are running out of wall space.Sharon Standridge, Great Way to Start the Day, oil, 14 x 11”

“It’s hard to believe we’re celebrating our 15th annual Miniatures by the Lake show,” reflects Coeur d’Alene Galleries’ owner Buddy Le. “What started out as a show featuring small works and an opportunity to work with artists we didn’t normally work with, has turned into our most popular event of the year. Our patrons love our mini show because they can always find room for a small painting even when their walls are full, and the price points are palatable for everyone. It’s truly a sight to behold when all the works are hanging in the gallery,” Le adds “With a huge variety in styles, techniques and subject matters, collectors will make multiple visits to the gallery to appreciate the diversity of works. Collectors have come to expect the highest in quality regardless of size and our participating artists always exceed that expectation. Our goal has never been to grow the number of works, but the quality of works which only benefits our collectors.” —
