Double Trouble from Gina Teichert
Western Art Collector had a chance meeting with Northern California-based Gina Teichert at the Masters of the American West show in Los Angeles earlier this year. Her business card said “writer” so we brought her on as a freelance contributor (she’s had exceptional articles in almost every issue since this past spring). But “writer” only tells half the story, because Teichert is also a rising young artist whose Southwestern-inspired works have a modernist style to them. Birds and Bandanas from Christy Stallop
A new artist on our radar is Christy Stallop, a Texas-based painter whose recent works include grackles wearing every conceivable outfit, from luchador masks to sombreros to heart-shaped glasses. Some of her recent Western work includes still lifes of bandanas hanging from walls. Her work captures the color and designs of these iconic pieces of Western gear.
