This spring and summer, Hindman is diving into a season dense with Western, Native American and wildlife art with several major sales. One of the auctions kicking off this fantastic season is the biannual Western & Contemporary Native American Art sale, which includes a significant group of contemporary Western paintings and bronzes from the Collection of Barbara and Robert (Bob) P. Hunter Jr., from Alpharetta, Georgia.

Joseph Henry Sharp (1859-1953), Fiesta Day (Squaw Winter, Crow Reservation - Montana), oil on canvas, 16 x 20” Estimate: $150/200,000The Hunter Collection features some of the brightest names in contemporary Western art, making up nearly 75 total lots. One of the major highlights is contemporary Western painter C. Michael Dudash’s oil The Return to Summer’s Camp, estimated at $25,000 to $35,000. Sculpture in the sale will be represented by Dave McGary and John Coleman. Both The Honor Dress, by McGary, and Coleman’s bronze Keokuk, Sac and Fox have presale estimates of $15,000 to $25,000. Additionally, a superb oil on canvas by the famed Frederic Remington, The Hold Up, is expected to fetch between $200,000 and $300,000. Another highlight includes esteemed Native American artist Fritz Scholder’s acrylic on canvas Indian on Horseback (est. $50/70,000).
