Returning February 17 to Charleston, South Carolina, is the hugely popular Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, a citywide event that brings together art collectors, wildlife artists and art venues. The four-day show not only celebrates wildlife art, but also wildlife conservation. This year is SEWE’s 40th annual event.

“For 40 years we have worked tirelessly to create an event that is enjoyed by art collectors, outdoor enthusiasts and conservationists, in a setting that the entire family can enjoy,” says Jimmy Huggins, SEWE president and CEO. “We have our loyal supporters, from attendees to corporate partners, to thank for our ability to produce a world-class event year after year. We look forward to the return of SEWE in 2022 and celebrating 40 years with our dedicated patrons in February.”

This year’s event will take place at five major exhibit sites: Charleston Place, Brittlebank Park, Gaillard Center, Charleston Marriott and Marion Square. The show plans to bring back several popular attractions, including the Fine Art Gallery, DockDogs competitions, Center for Birds of Prey demonstrations, Jeff Corwin presentations, a curated exhibit of artisans and craftsmen, canine demonstrations from herding and retrieving breeds, conservation organizations, the South Carolina Department of Agriculture tent and more.

This year’s featured artist is Julia Rogers, who began her painting journey at just 17 years old. The Maryland artist often paints in plein air, but also paints figures, landscapes and portraits from her studio. “To be chosen as the featured artist is an honor that I hope to live up to,” she says. “There have been so many great artists before me. Being recognized in the art world means that the work you are creating is being seen and having a positive reaction which is one of the goals of any artist.”
