Legacy Gallery celebrates the season with its annual small works exhibition.

Legacy Gallery’s annual Holiday Small Works Show is one of its most anticipated events of the year as it includes artwork by its roster of artists and invited guests. All the paintings and sculptures available are pint-sized treasures that range in style and genre, which allows collectors to fill in the gaps of their collection without taking up too much space. Browning’s painting The Sentinel is a panoramic oil that depicts a Native America looking out over the land. Describing the work, Browning says, “Ever since man could walk, he always had to be on the lookout for either prey or danger. Native Americans became very keen at this survival skill. Here, a Blackfoot brave stands atop a high vantage point to survey the vast horizons for anything out of the ordinary.”Tom Browning, The Sentinel, oil, 10 x 20"

Known for his sensitive portrayals of Native Americans, Liang recently had the opportunity to purchase a canoe and created a narrative around it in his painting Bountiful Passage. “I did some paintings related to canoes and water some time ago,” he says, but this work was the chance to present a story of a Native American of the past going about his daily life.Hsin-Yao Tseng, Yellow Rose Garden, oil, 12 x 12"Yellow Rose Garden, by Tseng, was inspired by a rose garden he visited in South Bay, California, this past summer. He says, “I was fascinated by all the diverse displays of rose varieties. Yellow Rose Garden is one from the new series that I started this year. As the world has been affected and covered by Covid for over a year now, I wanted to change my perspective and paint some beautiful, bright and vivid flowers to cheer people up and get some positive energy. And remind us of the beauty of nature.”
