What event (gallery show, museum exhibit, etc.) in the next few months are you looking forward to, and why?
Many Wests: Artists Shape an American Idea is on display at BAM until February 13, 2022, after which, it will travel to four collaborating art museums through its final destination at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C.
I am looking forward to being able to experience our collaborative exhibition on display in the spaces of our partner art museums.

What are you reading?
James Castle: Memory Palace by John Beardsley.

Interesting exhibit, gallery opening or work of art you’ve seen recently.
I have admired the tenacity and flexibility of art museums during a time when they have had to rebuild their advance exhibition schedules after everything was canceled because of shutdowns, closures and shipping impossibilities during the pandemic. They have relied more on their permanent collections and have come up with creative solutions to continue to engage their audiences remotely as well as in person (when they could) with meaningful exhibitions relevant to our times, under the most difficult circumstances.

What are you researching at the moment?
I am currently researching the artist Felix Gonzales-Torres for an upcoming installation at the Boise Art Museum. He was a Cuban American artist whose artwork has particular relevance to our times because of its metaphorical references to grief, loss, regeneration and hope, that we are all experiencing today.

What is your dream exhibit to curate? Or see someone else curate?
I am curious and intrigued by many artists, media and narratives. I have the privilege of being able to develop a longer-term perspective on the curation of ideas over time for our community with the many exhibitions we curate and organize across multiple themes—I can usually say with sincerity that the one we are currently working on is my dream exhibition. —
