Closing Out the Season

Western Art Collector marks the end of summer with a bash in Santa Fe.

When this year’s summer season ended in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Western Art Collector and its parent company, International Artist Publishing, marked the end of a successful season with a celebratory bash. Top left: International Artist Publishing co-owner  Adolfo Castillo, left, with painter Kim Wiggins. The party, held on September 24 at Nedra Matteucci Gallery, saw a number of great artists, collectors and dealers in attendance. And even celebrities such as actor Eugene Brave Rock, who was in Wonder Woman and was filming an undisclosed project in Santa Fe. In addition to live music, food and drinks, IAP and it’s five magazines—Western Art Collector, American Art Collector, Native American Art, American Fine Art Magazine and International Artist—also hosted a silent auction that raised nearly $5,000 for several charities championed by donating artists Marla Allison, Nathanael A. Volckening and Kim Wiggins.

The party came after the close of a hugely successful season that included popular events such as Santa Fe Indian Market, Brian Lebel’s Cody Old West Show & Sale, Free Indian Market, sales at Santa Fe Art Auction and many others. New Mexico experienced an abnormally long Covid shutdown, but most of the artists, galleries and museums made it through a tumultuous year and came out the other end stronger than before. —
