A self-taught artist, Tom Fuller feels that personal characteristics and life’s story are as important as the features in his created subjects. Authenticity is his central defining feature and validates his identity personally and as an artist. His technique invites the sense of moment and reality through the application of form and color.

“My life’s journey is to portray and preserve the culture of the American West,” says Fuller. “I don’t keep track of hours, days, weeks, months and years. I learned by trial and error how to portray the character of the cowboy, the unspoken language of the horse, tack and its relationship between rider and mount.”
One of his new pieces, Zane and Travis, shows Zane Kiehne of Z & T Cattle Co., and Travis Kiehne of Ake Ranch, who are fourth-generation ranchers who own several original art pieces by the artist. “Both brothers are portrayed in oil depicted in this article commissioned by Zane with their wives Tanya and Tammy,” Fuller explains. “These family ranches comprise over 550,000 acres where commercial cattle and quarter horses are bred.”

“I started collecting Tom Fuller’s art a few years ago and currently have several original pieces and prints,” Kiehne says. “Travis’ art collection includes the original Cowboys & Coors.”
