Lifting Each Other Up

The Women Artists of the West have been supporting women artists across the country for nearly 50 years.

Made up of some 350 professional women artists, the Women Artists of the West organization supports women through promoting their artwork, hosting public exhibitions and workshops and fostering a sense of camaraderie amongst its members. The group was founded in 1971 in California by a small group of women seeking to connect as professional artists. Debuting their first exhibition in Palm Springs, California, the group has grown over the years into its distinctive Western style. Judith Brunko, Dragoon Dancer, oil, 28 x 22”

Women Artists of the West’s hand extends across 30 states throughout the United States. The organization also aims to bolster and encourage aspiring artists through mentoring, workshops hosted by WAOW members and more.

This year the group celebrates its 50th Anniversary National Exhibition from March 27 to April 17 at Settlers West Galleries in Tucson, Arizona. For more information visit www.waow.org. —
