Hindman Auctions adds a new director for its Western and wildlife department

Hindman has named Bart Monson as the director and specialist of the auction house’s Western and wildlife art department that is based out of Hindman’s Denver office.

Bart Monson, Hindman.

Monson comes to the position with more than a decade’s worth of experience. He was previously in and around Western art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and then also in post-war and contemporary art in more recent years. Over the course of his career, Monson has worked closely with private collectors, museum curators, art investment funds and family office clients.

“Hindman has long been a leader in the Western and wildlife art category and with Bart on board we will only strengthen that position,” says Jay Krehbiel, Hindman’s CEO.

“I’ve long been an admirer of Hindman’s from afar, so it’s a great honor to get to take the reins of such a respected department,” Monson says. “Our customers can expect the same level of exceptional material and customer service as we have always had, but I’m also looking forward to expanding into new and exciting areas.”

His first auction was the November 4 Western Art and Contemporary Native American Art, which realized $3.4 million across a 97 percent sell-through rate. The next Western and wildlife art auction will be held at Hindman’s Denver saleroom in May 2022 and is now welcoming consignments. For more information visit
